Barclays Wealth In Gibraltar Wins Prestigious Industry Awards
Barclays Wealth in Gibraltar has scooped two prestigious awards in the 2012 Euromoney Private Banking Survey Awards. The organisation won ‘Best private banking services overall’ in the Gibraltar category and was also named supplier of Gibraltar’s ‘Best Super-Affluent Specific services’. more

The Diamond Jubilee Committee in association with the Ministry of Culture is inviting entries for:
• Block, Patio and Balcony competition
• Shop Window competition
• Bars & Restaurants Competition and
• Sports Club and Social Club Competition
These entities are encouraged to decorate their premises to celebrate Her Majesty the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
Judging will take place on 31st May and 1st June 2012 and winners will be announced at the Variety Show to be held at John Mackintosh Square on Saturday 2nd June 2012. A Diamond Jubilee trophy will be awarded to the best 3 entries in each category.
Entry forms and terms & conditions are available from the Ministry of Culture, 310 Main Street or can be downloaded from the Jubilee web page on the Government web site www.gibraltar.gov.gi and returned to the Secretary to the Jubilee Committee, No.6 Convent Place.

Following on from the album review of Giles Ramirez’s new compilation album, ‘Ultimately’ in the Entertainment Insight section on page 31 of the March 2012 edition of Insight Gibraltar magazine, we dug up this photo from our archives. After 20 years of publication, we’ve build up quite a number of photos from the last couple of decades, and we found this photo, taken by Charles Bosano back in 1992, of Giles and Stephen McLaren performing at the Tex Mex bar in Cornwall’s Parade. Thought you might like seeing this one!

AKIN Gibraltar Presents £32,096 to Tom Dannatt, Founder of “Street Child of Sierra Leone” Charity
During a presentation held two days ago at the John Mackintosh Hall, Jimmy Bruzon from the Association for Kids In Need – AKIN) presented a cheque for £32,096 to Tom Dannatt, Founder of “Street Child of Sierra Leone”. The cash will be used to fund the building of two new schools in the North of Sierra Leone and it hoped the construction will be completed by June which, which is when the Kiln Marathon event will be taking place (for more details please follow this link: www.kilnsierraleonemarathon.com). Jimmy commented “I am sure we will have a big group from Gibraltar going to Sierra Leone for the June marathon event, there are 12 of us registered to go at the moment”.
